Team Suneat and publisher NEOWIZ have launch a Kickstarter campaign for their in-development 2D cyberpunk action rogue-lite platformer Blade Assault. In addition to the Kickstarter a free playable demo is on Steam to let players try the game before backing it.
We’re super excited to finally start our crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. We think that this is a good chance for us to show our game to more people and hopefully receive constructive feedback on our game. We’re a small team of four, but are dedicated to making the game as best and fun as possible.
Jun Hyeong Kim, Director of Team Suneat
The game features a 2D pixel world set in a desolate sci-fi environment with cyberpunk themes. At a point in the past, Red Stones were discovered and offered new powers. Humanity turned on itself with war leaving most of Earth in ruins. Victors of the war seized all the Red Stones and created a city in the sky called Esperanza. For the rest of humanity they were left to die in the wasteland ruins on Earth.
A full cast of charming characters populates the world and players have access to tight, responsive controls. Weapons are varied and transformable for use against one’s enemies. Different “cores” and “transform upgrades” that appear during gameplay allow for further weapon customization.
Built around fast-paced combat, Blade Assault requires the use of diverse skills, avoidance of enemy attacks, launching projectiles, and slashing enemies. In the sky city of Esperanza, one will surely make a name for themself as they collect red shards and gain more power as they take on the corrupt ruler of the city.
Backers of game in the Kickstarter campaign can also pickup various merchandise in addition to a Steam key when the game launches. Various packages contain physical merchandise that includes a pin set, acrylic key chains, sticker set, key art mousepad, and more. Higher tier backers will have the opportunity to make design choices that will end up in the final game when it launches.
Blade Assault is planned for a Steam launch in Q1 2021. The Kickstarter campaign runs from now until 5AM PST December 11, 2020. A playable demo is available on Steam to aid potential backers in their decision. For more information about Blade Assault visit the game’s Steam page and Kickstarter campaign page.
