FakeFish and Undertow Games alongside publisher Daedalic Entertainment have released in Early Access a hilariously fun multiplayer submarine simulator in Barotrauma.
This 2D sci-fi submarine experience sends up to 16 players under the surface and into the waters of Jupiter’s moon Europa. The chilly ocean beneath Europa’s surface is filled with strange creatures that players will encounter when jumping from alien ruin sites. While exploring players will find alien wonders and possibly horrors.
During their expedition, players will also command the various submarine systems and fend off dangers from both outside and within. Players can choose from several classes and will need to work together to manage the complex submarine systems that includes the nuclear reactor, weapons, engines, and sonar. Classes include Captain, Engineer, Security Officer, Mechanic and Medic. The crew will face off against many challenges such as fending off hostile monsters, sealing radiation leaks, or even surviving against crewmates infected with extraterrestrial viruses.
The game presents a thrilling and often hilarious chaotic experience that is both fun to play and watch. Levels are procedurally generated that features often ridiculous ragdoll physics and full mod support.
Players should always beware of threats and sometimes they may be closer than one would think. Barotrauma features a traitor mode in multiplayer that may randomly assign players to act as secret conspirators that come complete with individual missions that include assassinations and sabotage.
Barotrauma is now available in Early Access on Steam for Windows PC, Linux and Mac with a price of $29.99. For more information visit the game’s website at barotraumagame.com.
