Midgar Studio and Playdius have announced that their JRPG, Edge Of Eternity, is coming to Steam Early Access. Edge Of Eternity previously held a highly successful Kickstarter campaign and now after many months of work the game enters Early Access on December 5, 2018.
The Early Access launch, previous planned for November 29, was pushed back a week to allow time for additional polishing. With this launch players will begin their journey into the world of Edge Of Eternity.
Edge of Eternity is the story of Daryon and Selene as they work to cleanse a new threat of an “all-consuming corrosion”. In a world torn apart by war players wage “epic turn-based battles” as they fight to save the world of Heryon and its people.
In this JRPG choices matter. Quests can be solved multiple ways each with their own consequences. Players will experience “grand tale of hope and sacrifice, filled with plot twists and heart-wrenching moments”.
The world of Heryon features many unique and ethereal environments. Players have access to a global world map where they can travel by mount. Large maps allow players to explore the detailed and diverse fauna, flora, and architecture. Random weather events alongside a day and night cycle add to the experience.
The combat system is a turn-based tactical combat system. Players can use the environment to lure enemies in traps, outsmart and outflank them to land brutal attacks. Crafted gear with powerful crystals unlock unique skill combinations and power-ups.
Several companions are available. Each have their own unique personas and attributes. As the story progresses so do the companions grow and evolve as well.
A sublime soundtrack accompanies the player on Heryon from Yasunori Mitsuda (Follow on Twitter). An industry legend, Mitsuda, previously composed for Chrono Trigger and Xenoblade Chronicles.
Edge Of Eternity players on Steam Early Access will see free updates that expand the game world and add new story chapters. The game will fully launch on PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
Midgar Studio (Follow on Twitter) is an independent game development studio based in Nimes, France. Since 2008 the studio has specialized in consoles and PC hardcore games. They do work for hire for a wide range of companies with console ports to 3D art and specialized programming.
