The delightfully deranged co-op roguelite third-person shooter, SWAPMEAT, launches in 2025 for PC and macOS via Steam. Developed by indie studio One More Game, who also serve as its publisher, this wild adventure lets players swap alien body parts to steal game-flipping abilities while blending squishy chaos with strategic depth.
Meat-Swapping Madness Unveiled
In SWAPMEAT, you’re a Meat Scientist for the intergalactic Rangus Meats, raiding bizarre planets to blast aliens and harvest DNA for precious meat cores. Play solo or squad up with four players to battle beefy bosses and to loot heads, legs, or torsos, unlocking wild abilities via Smart Meat tech. The game delivers heart-pounding third-person chaos with a roguelite twist.
Join the Meat Lab 5 Playtest
Before its 2025 launch, One More Game invites players to test the meaty mayhem in the Meat Lab 5 playtest, running from May 15 at 10 AM PT to May 22 at 5 PM PT. Sign up at playSWAPMEAT.com, and refer three friends for guaranteed squad access (while supplies last).
This playtest unveils a new biome, three planets, a Mutant Boss for the Mutant Space Wrestlers in Space Federation Championship Edition Belt, and a sleek HUD. Expect spicy combat tweaks like weapon switching, in-run upgrades, and a revamped Active Reload system. Harvest Fish Rifts or Mineral Veins to unlock ship upgrades, but remember to extract safely to keep your haul. Trader Mike joins your ship to trade goods and, yes, ask about your expenses.
Full patch notes await on Discord, and a developer stream on Twitch showcases the juicy updates on May 16 at 4 PM PT.
Awards and Buzz
SWAPMEAT’s chaotic charm has earned accolades, including the ‘Creative Overkill’ award at the 2024 devcom Indie Awards and more recently indieRift’s ‘Best Roguelike’ at PAX East 2025.
