Award-winning indie publisher Assemble Entertainment and solo developer Moral Anxiety Studio are expanding the Roadwarden storyworld with their announcement of Windy Meadow – A Roadwarden Tale. This new adventure is an official counterpart to the illustrated text-based RPG, Roadwarden.
Set in the richly detailed fantasy village of Windy Meadow, the game submerges players into the daily on goings of the small community. With a range of hand-crafted characters and animated sprites, the village’s residents take part in various, sometimes even dramatic scenes. This full and complete visual novel is to an atmospheric musical score.
Three interwoven stories are explored though the game’s protagonists: Vena, Fabel, and Ludicia. These three individuals navigate grand life choices regarding this futures in the serene village.
Vena is a talented huntress who is tempted to depart the village and leave her family behind to pursuit riches with a merchant guild. Fabel is challenged to embrace his talents and become a bard while overcoming his difficult past. Ludicia is an outsider and herbalist who is looking to gain control of her love life and future.
Choices matter in this immersive story. Dialogues, events, how NPCs perceive the protagonists, and the story’s end are all impacted by what choices are made. Players will want to think carefully how each decision will direct their path forward.
An early demo for Windy Meadow – A Roadwarden Tale is available on itch.io. In 2018, Moral Anxiety Studio released Tales From Windy Meadow. According to Aureus, the solo developer behind the studio, the game had many flaws and they “couldn’t pull it off – yet” with now being the time to make it right.
This addition announcement to the Roadwarden universe comes a little more than six months since the release of Roadwarden on Steam. A Roadwarden demo is still available on the game’s Steam page with new updates that include various text-related changes that the game has received since launch.
Windy Meadow – A Roadwarden Tale is coming later in 2023 to Windows PC, Mac, and Linux via Steam. Players can add the game to their Steam wishlist now. For more information visit the game’s product page on Steam.
