During Nintendo’s Inside the House of Indies: Holiday Event last Friday, the twin-stick shooter Dust & Neon was revealed to be coming in early 2023.
Published by Rogue Games and developed by David Marquardt Studios the post-apocalyptic Wild West action game will be released on PC and Nintendo Switch. Gameplay features roguelite RPG progression and wagon-loads of loot.
A Dust & Neon Nintendo Switch game walkthrough video was released that showed off various game elements. In the video, Matt Casamassina and Craig Harris, CEO and Sr. Design Manager of Rogue Games, shared never-before-seen game elements. Players have full control of their aim when shooting at enemies. Weapons have unique reloads and requires players to reload each bullet. There are revolvers, shotguns and sniper rifles that players can quickly switch out.
Any object can be used for cover. All a player needs to do is to approach an object and the character will auto cover behind the object. The goal was to make that part of the game easy so the player can focus on gun gameplay. Players can also dive and slide out of harm’s way.
When entering buildings, enemies outside will follow the player inside. In other words there is no escape. Being a roguelite game, death is not the end. Players once they respawn back at the mad scientists lair, will have various upgrade options. Basic guns are available for use, however players can use their banked money at the weapons shop to purchase upgraded weapons.
A most wanted board allows players to look at the map and choose which level they wish to play that include train heists and boss fights. Throughout the levels, loot caches are everywhere. Inside these caches are ammo, currency, and new weapons. Heading into boss fights, the area gives a bit of a lead up to the boss. Players will have to clear out enemies before engaging the boss in epic gun battle.
Dust & Neon is heading to PC via Steam and Epic Games and on Nintendo Switch in early 2023. Visit the game’s site for more information: rogueco.com/games/dust-neon/.
