Heat and Run 2D Shooter Blasts Onto Steam Early Access

Game development studio and now publisher Damnatio Games have released their 2D 4v4 multiplayer shooter, Heat and Run, onto Steam Early Access. Players can now join up with players from around the world in frantic fights to destroy their opponents Flame.

Eight heroes and heroines available for players with the Early Access release. Initially there will be three relics available to boost one’s hero.

Overgrown and Akona are the first two available maps. Both classic and custom modes are available. Empty game slots will be filled in with bots. For the team 4v4 gameplay, audio communication via voices of the heroes is available. Instant messaging is available within the friends and teams system.

An individual leaderboard allows players to see their own gameplay progress.

Early Access is expected to last for several months with the game’s development coming a long way since the Steam Next Fest demo earlier this year. The total development time is dependent upon player feedback and the number of issues that arise during the process such as critical bugs. As with any Early Access release there will be bugs and players are encouraged to join the game’s Discord to share opinions, ideas, and bugs encountered during gameplay.

The next update is planned for November and will include Spectator mode and various bug fixes. A road map has been released to outline upcoming content.

Future updates will add an XP progression system. A tutorial with three instructional phases, more in-game statistics, 2 new heroes, 6 new relics, custom and team chats, and a ping location system are also planned for release during the Early Access phase.

More languages, bots improvements, better reporting system, more SFX, and a free demo are additional features with no fixed schedule. Currently the developer is not planning on release console versions, an offline mode, more weapons, or modable maps.

The 1.0 release will include Gold currency, 2 new heroes, 21 new relics, a new map, Ranked mode, profile menu, universe menu to explore, cosmetics, statistics reset, and more balancing.

Heat and Run is available in Early Access on Windows PC via Steam for $10.99. The Heat and Run demo is available during Steam Next Fest on Steam. Interested players can also add the game to their wishlist now.
