Team17 and developer Wonderscope Games have launched their cozy community sim Hokko Life, on PC and consoles. Come play, fish, collect bugs, craft items, build a village, and befriend townsfolk in the full version 1.0 launch release.
After a little over a year in Early Access, Hokko Life is also launching the Desert Islands Distractions update. A new tropical island brimming with life and secrets is awaiting discovery. Tropical butterflies along with ocean and pond fish are ready to be discovered and added to collections. New design materials of bamboo, driftwood, and shells can be used to create new designs.
Using the Artefact detector, players can help Leonard fin hidden artefacts all over island. Use this same tool in the mine to discover geodes. Break the geodes to find rare gems and use them to enhance one’s designs.
Besides the range of existing villagers to befriend, a new villager, Ramesh, has joined in on the fun. Designed by community member Nisril, Ramesh is looking for a new place to live in the welcoming community of Hokko.
The 1.0 launch also brings Steamdeck support and Steam achievements. A reporting tool is available for user generated content. Additionally a range of quality of life and bug fixes are included in the update. A more complete list of changes is available here.
Shortly after the Early Access release, Nano Gaming News received a review code for the game. Even though the game was still very early in development, at the time we recognized the quality and originality Hokko Life had brought to the community sim genre. Since then we have seen the game grow with many updates such as the Farming Update and the Shopping Update. Our full Early Access Review is available for reading.
Hokko Life is available now on Windows PC via Humble Bundle or Steam for $19.99 USD. The game is also available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
