Honey, I Joined a Cult Takes Early Access Recruits

Team17 and UK based developer Sole Survivor Games is taking on recruits for their early access 1970s-based cult 2D management sim Honey, I Joined a Cult. As the leader of a new and groovy cult players get to make all the decisions both big and small.

It is the funky and groovy 1970s and cults are the rage. Players find themselves in the shoes of the architect or rather leader of a new cult. From picking the deity of worship to the location of bathrooms are all details for the leader to workout. In fact no detail is too small when designing one’s base of operations.

To have a cult one needs to recruit followers. Recruited cultists help maintain the smooth operation of the organization. Cultists do have needs and will have to be both entertained and kept happy for the cult to grow its money and influence. Lucky for the leader things like hypno-chambers and monoliths can help keep the cultists in the right mind set.

Beyond the confines of the cults compound the outside word awaits. Leaders can send their cultists out to the local community to spread their good word or to steal fancy stuff for the cult’s base. The world beyond also has its own set of threats. There is always the local media and misinformed protestors causing a stir. Even worse is the meddling threats of law enforcements and oppressive government agencies. All of these groups represent various threats that can be overcome with creative solutions.

Regardless of the cult’s belief, such as a fiery apocalypse or the second coming of the Squid Lord, a leaders power lies in their influence over their followers. Keeping the cult lucrative is not an easy task with all the work required. In the end a successful cult leader is one who keeps the all-important bottom line green.

Honey, I Joined a Cult is available on Windows PC in early access on Humble Bundle and Steam for $19.99 USD. A 10% off early access launch promotion for the game runs until September 21, 2021.
