Killing Floor 2: Interstellar Insanity Summer 2021 Update

Developer and publisher Tripwire Interactive released their free summer 2021 content update, Interstellar Insanity for their first-person shooter Killing Floor 2. While the previous update took players to a cyberpunk dystopia, this update will have players taking out zeds on the Moon as Killing Floor 2: Interstellar Insanity blasts off with a new map, astronaut cosmetics, and more.

The Interstellar Insanity update marks the end of the Lockhart map trilogy with a new survival map titled Moonbase. Reached by means of a steam-powered rocket that lifted off at the end of the Steam Fortress map, Moonbase is located at a secret Horzine research outpost on the Moon. Moonbase is available in survival, weekly, and endless game modes. Players can earn unique seasonal rewards along the way. Since the Moon is has low gravity, the Moonbase map has low gravity giving a little bit of float to fight making zed kills all that much more gore-filled fun.

Several new tools are available in the update to help massacre zeds on the Moon. SWAT users can equip the new HRG Bastion. This LMG has an energy shield for bullet spray in space. HRG Blast Brawlers, a gauntlet-style weapon, will let Support players’ hands do some bloody beat downs on all enemies. These new HRG weapons are free for all players.

This update also brings DLC and bundles which include the FAMAS Masterkey for the Commando and Support perks in addition to the Thermite Bore for the Firebug perk.

Out of this world astronaut-style cosmetics add to the lunar lunacy. The Summer Sideshow zeds have returned. Two new game modes, scavenger and arachnophobia, have been added to the weekly rotation to further spice up the rotation. A more complete list of changes and additions in the update can be read here.
