Exit Plan Games has released their self-developed and published 3D action platformer, Bang-On Balls: Chronicles, on Steam early access. This platformer takes inspiration from a dose of memes and the best games in the genre that includes Italian plumbers, a blue hedgehog, and a bear with a bird on its backpack.
The game is a different twist on the platforming genre that features item collecting. Players create their reckless ball hero that goes on missions, collect items, and search for secrets as they roll their way through vast open levels. Each level is a hilarious inaccurate portrayal of a historical event from Vikings to feudal Japan.
Multiplayer offers up to four ball action or rather ball-banging destruction as the players work to complete unique challenges. Players can grow, shrink, smash, and bash down the environment with their ball. The game has beautiful stylized graphics giving each player a chance to make their ball stand out from the crowd.
To get the ball rolling on player and community feedback, the developer has dropped into early access on Steam. The plan is to use this period as a tool to develop a game with the community around it by actively reacting to player’s comments and suggestions in order to create the best game possible. A community channel has been setup on Discord for players to share their thoughts.
At the early access launch approximately 25% of the content and 50% of the features of the five planned main levels are available. One level with a Viking theme is available to play and a second level is under development and on the way. There is also a full-fledged tutorial, a sandbox lobby for players to explore and get a sneak preview of what is to come. Currently the studio aims for a Q4 2022 full release.
Bang-On Balls: Chronicles is available as an early access Windows PC game on Steam for $14.99 USD. For more information about Bang-On Balls: Chronicles follow @bangonballs on Twitter or visit the game’s website bangonballs.com.
