Indie Russian developer Team Rez and publisher Valkyrie Initiative are now just a week away from the release date for their upcoming sci-fi space RPG action game Orange Cast. On January 21, 2021 players will be able to dive into a unique gameplay space cold war experience inspired by James S.A. Corey’s The Expanse series.
The story begins in the year 2046 with a space cold war is in full effect. At this point the great nations of Earth have colonized Mars and constructed massive space fleets. Brave and daring players will find themselves as an elite space trooper of humanity or rather Uber-Unit. Always ready to answer the call to action players at the same time will be at the mercy of the vast dark coldness of space.
Gameplay puts players awakening during an attack on Sion Colony. They immediately find themselves in the midst of the chaos surrounded by unknown coalition forces. Everywhere civilians are dying, the colonies defenses are failing and communications are gone. Presented in Russian with English subtitles, this Soviet and Western science fiction adventure puts players in the lead the investigation role where they will explore what is happening and what is this new threat to all humankind.
In the game there is always something to do. From action-packed shoot-outs to old-fashioned space exploration there are plenty of opportunities in the universe for one to seek out. Dialogs, story choices, and secondary quests all help to explore the game’s lore. Each of these different elements are connected so that they play off of each other to deliver a unique gameplay experience.
Previously the Orange Cast Prologue was released on Steam where players could get their first taste of the upcoming sci-fi space RPG action game. The prologue introduces the game’s story, gives a bit of background information and allows players to have a taste of what is to come when the core game launches. Players can still download and play the prologue from its Steam page.
Orange Cast is scheduled for release on January 21, 2021 on Steam for Windows PC. Players are encouraged to follow and wishlist the game now so they do not miss the 15% launch discount. More information about Orange Cast can be found on the game’s Steam page.
Team Rez is an indie game development studio from Kaluga, Russia. Orange Cast is the studio’s debut title and the studio is currently focused on completing the game with plans for a sequel along with a vision for their next title also in the works.
Valkyrie Initiative (@ValkyrieInitia1 Twitter) is a Russian video game publisher with a focus on indie game titles with a decade of experience on Steam. Previously the studio has helped publish titles such as Demoniaca: Everlasting Night and Hippocampus. Currently the company is working on Card Blitz: WWII and Orange Cast.
