Kindred Games Kickstarter backed cute multiplayer RPG fantasy adventure Swords ‘n Magic and Stuff has launched on Steam early access. In today’s launch players have access to a single large area where they can casually explore alone or with some friends in multiplayer co-op.
Right now in the early access release character creation and customization, combat, quests, shops, banking, factions, mounts, and gathering are in the game. The developer did note that many of these features will be updated and even expanded upon in future updates adding to the immersive story of Tirawyn. Each month players can expect a big content or feature update and smaller bug fix patches about every two weeks. Updated patch notes will be posted to the game’s Discord and Steam page when these fixes are released.
A teaser for upcoming content included player housing, crafting, and Mac support. Player housing will allow players to buy their own plot of land in Tirawyn, build a home, and customize it with furniture and decorations. Basic resource gathering is in the game with mining and woodcutting, but that is just the beginning as the developer plans to expand all of this into a full crafting system in the near future.
The Kickstarter for Swords ‘n Magic and Stuff kicked-off on March 17, the Kickstarter campaign for the cute and casual RPG. Within the first 2 hours of the campaign it had already received 40% funding. After reaching full funding several stretch goals were quickly smashed that included an Archaeological Society, Bug Catching and Nintendo Switch release. By the time the campaign ended on April 16 a total of $80,956 USD was raised or about 368% funding by 2,208 backers.
Players who participate in the early access period are encouraged to join the developer’s Discord to share feedback. There is an #ideas channel which the developer watches closely. Streamers and content creators are also welcomed to share links as well. A series of Devlogs are also available on the YouTube channel of Michael Kocha, founder of Kindred Games.
Swords ‘n Magic and Stuff is available now as an early access game on Steam for $19.99 USD. For more information on Swords ‘n Magic and Stuff visit the game’s website at playswordsandmagic.com or join the Kindred Games Community Discord.
