French indie developer Passtech Games and publisher Focus Home Interactive have released the Serpent’s Catacombs update for Curse of the Dead Gods. This is the second major update for the rogue-lite early access title since its release last March.
In the update the Serpent’s Catacombs are now available and the amount of content in game since the March launch has doubled. Three new serpent tiers, each with their own atmospheres, has been added. New traps and game mechanics with poisons present new challenges for players.
Along with the new areas there are six new dangerous enemies, two new challenging champions and a new epic boss. Four serpent game modes have been added: Short, Medium, Long, and Hard explorations.
Several balancing changes have been included in this update. The input buffer has been reduced to 0.2 seconds down from 0.3 seconds. A developer note about this change was to avoid undesired moves by reducing the anticipated inputs. All parry windows have been increased by two frames to increase the appeal and reliability of parrying.
Additional Haven Rooms have been added on Medium explorations to increase the regularity of healing resources. Bestiary unlock conditions have been adjusted and are now linked to defeating the enemies and their elite versions. A complete list changes is available here.
Curse of the Dead Gods is available now as an early access title on Humble Bundle and Steam at a regular price of $14.99 USD for Windows PC. For more information about Curse of the Dead Gods visit the game’s website at curse-of-the-dead-gods.com or follow @PlayDeadGods on Twitter.
