Indie game developer alchemedium has brought several changes to A Tofu Tail with the Mystery of the Metaverse update. The puzzle game that features tofu, foxes, and Japanese folklore further expands upon the history of the Kitsune and their world.
In this update, a new lore journal has been added that included more about the world of A Tofu Tail and tracks Mr. Tofu’s progress. A new achievements screen allows players to track their Steam achievement progress and achievements are available across all platforms. There are unlockable accolades to track progress across the game. Several quality of life improvements and enhancements are also included in the update.
A vividly colorful world sets the stage where players move a sentient tofu cube around the immersive puzzle landscape. Players can only move Mr. Tofu to tiles that are the same color as him. To move to other tiles, Mr. Tofu can absorb colors from objects around him and allow additional progression. Deeper into the journey a player ventures in the various fox puzzle worlds more challenges will emerge.
At the December 2019 release the game featured over 100 levels of puzzles. Each of the dream-like puzzle worlds lay in wait for players to explore and experience. The Japanese folklore influence story is presented in unique hand-drawn art styles along with a classic chiptune soundtrack.
A Tofu Tail is available on Steam and Itch.io platforms for Windows, MacOS, and Linux at a price of $14.99 USD. For the latest information about A Tofu Tail visit the game’s website at atofutail.com where DRM Free versions of the can also be purchased.
