Welcome to the Nano Gaming News Weekly Rewind for April 25, 2020 where we cover stories and events we missed over the past week.
Two big game announcements that we overlooked here at NGN came this past Tuesday. The first came from Super Sexy Software and the publishing arm of Deck13 with the Steam release of The Shattering. In the second announcement, indie development studio Yokereba released a few details about its upcoming competitive platformer Jumpala.
For those that missed some of our other stories, here is a quick recap of a few of stories NGN covered this past week. Hunter’s Arena: Legends and Project Xandata are both doing some testing with closed betas. Gray Zone teased players with some intriguing story before the games end of month release. 112 Operator is now accepting all calls for help on Steam while Dieselpunk Wars put out a free to play prologue.
The Shattering Out Now
Super Sexy Software and publisher Deck13 Spotlight released The Shattering on Steam this past Tuesday. The passion project from the 5 member team of close friends was first created in the mind Marta Szymańska, the studio’s founder, in 2013.
In the game players will experience the key moments of John’s life and how they defined and shaped him. From discovering the truth to shattering the lies, players are on a journey to discover what happened to him and to remember “her” name.
With the usage of white as a means to draw upon horrors and fears in the face of absent information players will immerse themselves into a 5 act story that pieces the the picture and understanding of the present. Along the way an intense original score makes every moment seem so much more real.
The Shattering is available now on Steam for Windows PC at the regular price of $19.99 USD. A special launch sale runs until April 28 discounting the game down to $17.99 USD. For more information visit The Shattering’s site here or follow @shatteringgame on Twitter.
Jumpala Early Access in 2020
Indie developer, Yokereba, announced this past Tuesday that it is planning to release their fast-paced multiplayer competitive platformer later this year.
In the game players jump on platforms to turn them their color and collect points before reaching the top. The Special Meter allows players to activate special moves for their character. Each original character features their own unique abilities and playstyle.
As with my previous game, Jumpala is a love letter to Spryjinx, a game I played as a child. I wanted to capture the feelings I had when playing Spryjinx, and add some modern twists like special abilities and cool characters.
Makario Lewis, Developer, YokerebaFrom 4 player competitive action to free-for-all matches or teams in 2v2 matches there are plenty of ways play. The game is easy to learn, but tough to master as the best will learn to plan their routes, practice their timing, and perfect their positioning as they still remain mindful of their opponents.
