French indie developer Tactical Adventures is re-releasing their free demo for their Kickstarter funded tactical RPG Solasta: Crown of the Magister. The demo will be available until Monday on Steam during the Steam Game Festival: Spring Edition.
In the upcoming tabletop inspired tactical RPG, players participate in a team-based adventure with each character playing a critical role in the campaign. With a license from Wizards of the Coast, Tactical Adventures were able to apply Dungeons & Dragons SRD 5.1 content and rules to the game.
The world unlike more traditional flat map worlds, is three-dimensional. This means players can explore locations by climbing walls, flying, teleportation, crawling in tunnels, utilizing secret passages, or falling through unstable ground. With aid of the environment, players can take on encounters in various different ways.
As a team-based adventure, players have many options to choose races, classes, backgrounds, and roll for stats as the party is assembled. Every member of the party is essential where together success is critical and necessary for success.
Encounters are designed to be handled in multiple different ways. From taking the high ground and unleashing death from above as a Darkweaver Rogue or kicking the enemies into a deep chasm as a Mountain Fighter, the choices will determine the fate of the party.
Light is powerful. Not only does light provide illumination and allow one to see their surroundings, it is a useful weapon against the light-fearing creatures the party will encounter during their adventure. But be warned, light can also give away one’s location.
Last September the Kickstarter campaign for Solasta: Crown of the Magister launched with much success. Not only did the game receive full funding, the campaigned smashed through several stretch goals that included new race, classes, questlines, full orchestral music, and much more. Along with the campaign was a free hour-long pre-alpha demo that has now returned.
Solasta: Crown of the Magister demo is free to play now on Steam through 10 AM PDT Monday, March 23, 2020. More information about Solasta: Crown of the Magister can be found on the game’s website at solasta-game.com or the Solasta: Crown of the Magister Discord.
