In addition several game’s were released such as the roguelite A Long Way Down, puzzle adventures Lightmatter and Bug Academy, and bullet hell shooter Super Mega Space Blaster Special Turbo.
In this Weekly Rewind we are changing up the format a bit and going to cover things we missed over the past week in addition to important stories we covered over the week. Two stories we didn’t cover during the week are the launch of Forgotten Passages and Overwatch kicked off it’s Lunar New Year 2020 year of the rat event.
Forgotten Passages Released
Last Friday, January 17, 2020, indie solo developer 26PM (Josiah Munsey) released his passion side project, Forgotten Passages, that has been in development the past four years.
The game consists of 100 tiny levels. In effect it is a micro adventure that about 1 hour to play. It features tiny visual levels where players walk through the atmospheric world of rich dreamscapes. Players follow a girl and a mysterious bird through wormholes of an eclectic universe as she collects the glowing feathers in each level that unlocks the next.
Essentially the game is a beautiful walking simulator that is designed to be a zen-like experience when played in a dark room withe headphones. For those that take time to explore don’t be surprised if a secret item or two is found.
Overwatch Lunar New Year 2020
Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch Lunar New Year 2020 event is now underway for the Year of the Rat. For those unfamiliar with Overwatch’s seasonal events, this year’s Lunar New Year is similar to that of last years with new skins, player icons, voice lines, sprays, and other cosmetic items.
In addition the Capture the Flag mode returns to Arcade for the Lunar New Year. CTF Blitz is a new mode and modified take on the regular CTF. The flags are closer than before and are at locations that overtime games typically go to. Instead of three flag captures, it now takes six to win a match.
Weekly Challenges are here for the Lunar New Year as well. Each week a new limited-time set of rewards can be unlocked by winning nine games. The rewards include player icons, sprays, and epic skins. Week 1 is all about Monk Doomfist, where Week 2 brings in Ancient Bronze Winston. In Week 3, the final week, players are treated with Paper Cutting Wrecking Ball.
Lastly be on the lookout for the new Face Changer Sombra skin. As Reddit user Owlero pointed out, Sombra’s gun also matches her new face with the skin.
The Overwatch Year of the Rat celebration started on January 16, and runs until February 6, 2019. Happy Lunar New Year and good luck on farming those new epic and legendary skins!
